Are people leaving comments at the end of your posts? Here’s
a simple way to have people offer their comments… ask them!
Many business owners (if you have a blog, consider yourself in
business, if only to “sell” your information or views) think they have to have
fancy surveys, etc. This is not true. A simple “kitchen sink” type of a
questions list can work just fine.
Just as in sales, no one gets the sale unless they ask for
it; sometimes it is subtle and sometimes blatant, but always the salesperson
asks for the order. Since you are not reading my sales blog, I will get off
that subject and on to getting people to comment.
From experience, I know that people read my blog entries but
many times do not leave a comment. Comments are important because it shows
other visitors and sponsors to your blog that you have traffic; and having
traffic builds more traffic!
Anyway, I know people have been to my blog but haven’t left their
comments simply because they don’t know how! I’m going to show you how to first
ask your readers to leave their comment, and then how you can make it so easy
for them to do so.
I’ve taught online at a university for some time now and as
part of assignments I’ve had students visit my sight, read an article and
comment. However, many students were “new” to blogs and didn’t know where or
how to place their comment. This was an enlightenment to me and told me that I
needed to make this easier for people to post.
TIP: (If you are an instructor, you should be doing this.
The blog I used for assignments is: http://instantpublicspeaker.blogspot.com/.
Also if you are a doctor, dentist or chiropractor you should have a blog and
ask clients to post comments, if you have any business create a blog and “bribe”
people to read and comment on your posts by offering incentives, coupons,
specials etc., well hopefully you get the point. Since this is not my marketing blog: http://terscott.blogspot.com/, I’ll
get back to blogging and getting people to comment on what you are blogging!).
If you haven’t read 10 Reasons Why Blogging is Good
for You and Good for Business:, I encourage you to do so now at: http://www.terscott.com/blogability.
So, here’s what to do:
This requires a few extra steps after posting, but I think
it is worth it. At the end of each post, end something like this: Question: “How
can… like I have described here help you to …. (use something having to do with
your post) and continue with: You can leave a comment by clicking here”.
Now go ahead and publish it. Then, look at the published
post and right click on “no comments” at the bottom of your new post to “copy shortcut”.
Go back into “your backroom” by clicking on Design, click on “posts” and then
find your post. Hold the curser just under the listing, click on edit to open
your post. Find the sentence: “…leave a comment by clicking here”, highlight
it, go to the link icon above the box and paste your shortcut link. Now click
on the “update” tab and now you are done! Try it. Go to your post, click on the
link and it goes right to your comment box!
GET A ROUTINE GOING...
It’s best to have a “routine list” that you refer to when
creating your blog entries (as you should with all tasks; I have one for my
sales at www.myimprintrep.com and
with my eBay sales at www.terscott.com/bargainbasement
so I am sure to give my customers the best and prompt service that I can) which
helps to automate, systematize and save you time. If you would like a copy of
my 10 POINT BLOG CHECKLIST just request it by using my contact information at the
upper top right side of my site: www.terscott.com/blogability.
It’s free; just be sure to use BLOG CHECKLIST PLEASE in subject line.
Hope you enjoy this information today and use it to get more
posts at your blog. And because I practice what I preach, here goes:
