A blog is short for “web log”, a log about your doings, but placed on the web for the world to see. But, does the world care? Hopefully, if your blog is well written and interesting, perhaps so. Then as people continue to visit, you create a following and maybe even make some money.
When you blog things, hopefully you are blogging about a topic that people care to read; if not, you’ll have a lonely time. Most people who blog, are “writers” with a story to tell. The great thing about blogging is that you don’t have to be a “writer” but you still need to have a story to tell. Today I’ll speak about “telling” your story.
So first, like anything, you should have a purpose for your blog; what will you blog about? Each of my blogs has a purpose. For instance, my blog about Twin Ports Buzz is about things happening around the Twin Ports; usually things that I find interesting myself. If I happen to get a readership, so be it. If not, I’m still having fun and get “practice” writing short posts. Later, who knows, I’ll take these posts and create a Kindle book or some other product. I also use the blog to promote other businesses. Usually when I visit a place that I’ve gotten good service, I “brag” about it and then link to the business and then tell the business about it.
Choose any topic under the sun, or use your blog to keep friends, family and even your business clients up to date on what’s going on.
